About

Sine Die By Beetle is the creation of Beetle, a multimedia artist whose work reflects a fascination with the deterioration of fabrics, objects, and materials. She established Sine Die in 2004, initially creating designs from recycled t-shirts. This concept of re-contextualizing and manipulating recycled materials has since evolved into high-end designs, constructed from raw silk scraps collected from Designer Mimi Turner’s cutting room, alongside a unique collection of vintage materials amassed over the years. Rather than using patterns, Beetle sculpts and dyes each piece of fabric, resulting in bespoke garments a rebellion against fast fashion and capitalism at large. She is inspired by the effect that time has on objects and people, finding beauty in the way things fall apart, evolve, and weather with age. No two pieces are the same — each one shaped by instinct, time, and the materials themselves. The process is quiet and reflective, unfolding slowly until the piece settles into what it’s meant to be.
